Hippity Hoppity: How to Dress for Easter in St. Louis

Spring has sprung and it is time to break out your Easter best for early April. Here are some tips on how to look stunning for your family functions this coming Easter Sunday. Be a hot chick this Easter not a bunny flop.

Do’s
1. Take the kids out to Eckert’s Orchards for the largest Easter Egg Hunt in St. Louis. Put on this season’s cropped skinnies from the likes of Rich and Skinny ($125) or G-Star ($175). Break the rules and wear white or hot pink and pair them with a cardigan and a skinny patent leather belt. Drape a scarf over your handbag and throw on some casual flats and you are ready for a fashionable day at the farm.
2. Going out for brunch this Easter Sunday? Try a form flattering striped convertible skirt/dress from Michael Stars ($125) with a floppy hat from D&Y ($30) and over-sized sunglasses. Pair that with a natural jute wedge to give you height and a chunky belt to cinch your waist. After brunch at the Chase Park Plaza or Duff’s take a stroll around the Central West End to window shop and see how many heads you turn in your finery.
3. Is a local church gathering your first stop this Easter Sunday? If so, it’s time to really show your friends how it is done. You can’t go wrong with Aryn K’s green tweed strapless dress ($159) paired with nude patent slingbacks and chunky gold necklace from Joia ($30). Sleek your hair back and watch all the church-goers mouth “Who’s that girl”?

Don’ts
1. Don’t try to outdo your Aunt Edna’s oversized, over-flowered, overly bright powersuit / hat combo. You look at her every year and shake your head. You don’t want others doing that to you.
2. Don’t wear too much floral. A flower a day will keep the doctor away…and all the good looking men. Try adding floral to your wardrobe by tying a scarf to your handbag or hat as an accent piece or by wearing a sheer floral blouse under your hot pink blazer and khaki slack outfit.
3. Don’t wear more than one pastel at a time. Pairing light pink, light blue and light green all together or even just two of these makes you look like you are a living Easter basket. All you need to do is a large chocolate bunny coming out of your purse and you would be all set. Try one color at a time paired with a neutral such as grey or white and a patent leather accessory such as a handbag or belt.

Sundance 2012: Must-Haves for Men

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about the men at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. And of course we want your man to look just as good as you while catching flicks and roaming Main Street. This year The Denim Bar has a vast array of men’s Gstar 3301 jeans. Pair them with a Palmer Cash Apres Skit t-shirt and you can’t go wrong. And because it’s cold outside men can stay warm and stand out with a parka that has a faux fur lined hood.
